Our technicians start with a full diagnostic to confirm the compressor is the source of the problem. We test electrical connections, measure refrigerant pressure, and check the capacitors and contactors that power the compressor. If the compressor itself has failed, we explain whether repair or full AC repair makes more sense for your situation.
For compressor replacements, we install the correct model for your system, recharge refrigerant as needed, and test the entire cooling cycle to verify performance. Before we leave, we walk through what was fixed and any maintenance steps to protect your new compressor. If the issue stems from related problems like refrigerant leaks or cooling failures, we address those at the same time so you are not calling us back next week.
Posted on Lisa Russ2025-10-06Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Matt for his exceptional service. He exceeded his responsibilities by adding a heat pump to my home purchase. Without prior acquaintance, he took the initiative to visit the property and assess the job requirements. On the same day, he contacted me to confirm that he could complete the task within a few hours, providing a reasonable price. I was delighted not only by the affordability but also by his ability to schedule the work for the following week. After searching for a month for someone to undertake this project, I encountered numerous companies unwilling to travel to my area. However, Matt not only accepted the job but also executed it with remarkable skill and efficiency, all while keeping costs manageable. I wholeheartedly recommend him and his company to anyone seeking honesty, quality workmanship, and a customer-first approach. Thank you, Matt, for your outstanding support "Lisa Russ"Posted on Brianne Hess2025-10-06Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Matt and his team are amazing! Scheduling was very simple and the person organizing dispatch was courteous. The technician was professional in appearance and behavior. Initially we had scheduled for an annual maintenance which was quoted at $199 but as it turned out we were having problems with our evaporator coil freezing so that was reduced to a diagnostic service call for only $80; that was my mistake for scheduling it as an annual checkup as opposed to a service call so I don't know that the tech was prepared to do cleaning and/or repairs. He did inspect the equipment however, after finding our return vents suboptimal are evaporator coil clogged and potentially a bad capacitor and dirty fan blades and our outdoor condenser was reportedly " very loud but in operable condition with no leaks in the system" he was adamant that we either spend several thousand dollars having them clean the air handler and replacing some maintenance Parts such as the capacitor, cleaning the fan, and replacing the evaporator coil which involves evacuating the coolant, cutting out the evaporator coil from the copper lines and resetting a new evaporator coil in its place. Alternatively we were offered the option to replace the outdoor condenser and the indoor Handler with some modifications being made to the ductwork to improve return air for approximately $9,000. I disassembled the air handler and cleaned the fan and had a technician from another local company come out and look at the system. they disassembled and cleaned the evaporator coil without having to cut the lines and then rechecked the pressures at the condenser and found the improvements in aiflow had raised pressures at the condenser and solved our freezing problem, he also took the time to evaluate our duct work and while not optimal for an older house the system setup is quite common and should be more than sufficient for the requirements of the air handler furthermore they offered to help us find appropriate filters for the returns to prevent the evaporator coil from getting clogged in the future and advised on appropriate filters to use at the air handler. they evaluated the condenser and found that it was no louder than normal and in good working order. How *long* it stays working... we'll see EDIT: after having a discussion with the owner Matt, I understand his point of view about wanting to remove the coil to clean it to prevent potential liability for damage to the lines that looked likely to occur. The options that he gave us a replacing components versus replacing the entire system were reasonable and allowed us to pick from within our interests and budget. It was not high pressure sales pitch or anything like that. but as always folks, if money is tight a second opinion on such a big project never hurts.Posted on Kristopher Herring2025-09-14Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Compressor replacement typically ranges from $1,500 to $2,800 installed, though exact costs depend on several factors. The compressor model your system requires plays the biggest role — newer units with higher SEER ratings use more advanced compressors that cost more. Systems still running R-22 refrigerant face higher prices because that refrigerant is no longer manufactured and parts are harder to source.
Whether your system needs additional repairs at the same time affects the total bill. If capacitors, contactors, or wiring need replacement alongside the compressor, those add to the cost. Labor to access the compressor varies depending on your unit’s configuration — some systems are straightforward while others require significant disassembly.
We always assess whether repair makes financial sense versus replacement. If your AC is over 12–15 years old and the compressor fails, replacement may offer better long-term value. For newer systems, compressor replacement restores full cooling without the higher cost of a new unit.
We diagnose and fix cooling issues quickly, so you stay comfortable without long wait times.
Every system we install or service is chosen to fit your home’s size and cooling needs.
We’re proud to serve LaFollette, Jacksboro, Caryville, and Campbell County TN with dependable service and long-term customer relationships.
How long does an AC compressor last in this area?
Most compressors last 10–15 years with proper maintenance. Tennessee heat and humidity shorten lifespan compared to milder climates. Annual maintenance and keeping the outdoor unit clear of debris help maximize compressor life.
Can I keep running my AC if the compressor sounds bad?
No — unusual noises from the compressor often mean electrical or mechanical failure is underway. Running the unit risks causing additional damage to the scroll valve, refrigerant lines, or other components. Call for diagnosis right away.
Is it worth replacing just the compressor on an older unit?
If your AC is less than 10 years old and in otherwise good condition, compressor replacement makes sense. For units over 12–15 years old, the cost of a new compressor plus continued aging components often tips the scales toward full replacement.
What causes AC compressors to fail prematurely?
Common causes include refrigerant leaks that allow air and moisture inside, electrical problems from voltage fluctuations, dirty condenser coils that make the compressor overwork, and capacitor failure that prevents the compressor from starting properly.
