Sometimes repair is not enough. If your AC system is aging or keeps breaking down, you may need a full replacement rather than patching the same problems over and over. Watch for these common signs that indicate a new air conditioning installation makes more financial sense than continued repairs:
Posted on Lisa Russ2025-10-06Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Matt for his exceptional service. He exceeded his responsibilities by adding a heat pump to my home purchase. Without prior acquaintance, he took the initiative to visit the property and assess the job requirements. On the same day, he contacted me to confirm that he could complete the task within a few hours, providing a reasonable price. I was delighted not only by the affordability but also by his ability to schedule the work for the following week. After searching for a month for someone to undertake this project, I encountered numerous companies unwilling to travel to my area. However, Matt not only accepted the job but also executed it with remarkable skill and efficiency, all while keeping costs manageable. I wholeheartedly recommend him and his company to anyone seeking honesty, quality workmanship, and a customer-first approach. Thank you, Matt, for your outstanding support "Lisa Russ"Posted on Brianne Hess2025-10-06Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Matt and his team are amazing! Scheduling was very simple and the person organizing dispatch was courteous. The technician was professional in appearance and behavior. Initially we had scheduled for an annual maintenance which was quoted at $199 but as it turned out we were having problems with our evaporator coil freezing so that was reduced to a diagnostic service call for only $80; that was my mistake for scheduling it as an annual checkup as opposed to a service call so I don't know that the tech was prepared to do cleaning and/or repairs. He did inspect the equipment however, after finding our return vents suboptimal are evaporator coil clogged and potentially a bad capacitor and dirty fan blades and our outdoor condenser was reportedly " very loud but in operable condition with no leaks in the system" he was adamant that we either spend several thousand dollars having them clean the air handler and replacing some maintenance Parts such as the capacitor, cleaning the fan, and replacing the evaporator coil which involves evacuating the coolant, cutting out the evaporator coil from the copper lines and resetting a new evaporator coil in its place. Alternatively we were offered the option to replace the outdoor condenser and the indoor Handler with some modifications being made to the ductwork to improve return air for approximately $9,000. I disassembled the air handler and cleaned the fan and had a technician from another local company come out and look at the system. they disassembled and cleaned the evaporator coil without having to cut the lines and then rechecked the pressures at the condenser and found the improvements in aiflow had raised pressures at the condenser and solved our freezing problem, he also took the time to evaluate our duct work and while not optimal for an older house the system setup is quite common and should be more than sufficient for the requirements of the air handler furthermore they offered to help us find appropriate filters for the returns to prevent the evaporator coil from getting clogged in the future and advised on appropriate filters to use at the air handler. they evaluated the condenser and found that it was no louder than normal and in good working order. How *long* it stays working... we'll see EDIT: after having a discussion with the owner Matt, I understand his point of view about wanting to remove the coil to clean it to prevent potential liability for damage to the lines that looked likely to occur. The options that he gave us a replacing components versus replacing the entire system were reasonable and allowed us to pick from within our interests and budget. It was not high pressure sales pitch or anything like that. but as always folks, if money is tight a second opinion on such a big project never hurts.Posted on Kristopher Herring2025-09-14Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Getting a new air conditioning system does not have to be stressful. Our process is designed to be straightforward and transparent from the first phone call to the final walkthrough. Here is what you can expect when you choose ThermoSTAT Heating & Cooling as your air conditioning contractor:
First, we schedule an in-home consultation to evaluate your home’s cooling needs. We assess the size of your space, insulation levels, ductwork condition, and existing equipment to determine the correct system capacity for your home. An improperly sized unit, whether too large or too small, leads to inefficiency, discomfort, and higher operating costs down the road. Our team walks you through a full HVAC inspection to gather all the data needed for an accurate recommendation.
Once we agree on the right system, we handle all aspects of the installation. This includes removing your old unit properly, making any necessary modifications to your existing ductwork or electrical connections, and installing the new system according to manufacturer specifications and local codes. We take care to protect your home during the process and leave the work area clean when we finish.
After installation, we test the system thoroughly, verify proper refrigerant levels, check airflow across all vents, and program your thermostat for optimal performance. We also walk you through how to operate your new system and what maintenance practices will keep it running efficiently for years to come.
We diagnose and fix cooling issues quickly, so you stay comfortable without long wait times.
Every system we install or service is chosen to fit your home’s size and cooling needs.
We’re proud to serve LaFollette, Jacksboro, Caryville, and Campbell County TN with dependable service and long-term customer relationships.
Campbell County experiences hot, humid summers with temperatures regularly reaching into the 80s and 90s from June through September. A reliable air conditioning system is not a luxury during these months — it is essential for comfort and safety, especially for families with young children, elderly members, or anyone with health conditions affected by heat.
Many homes in the LaFollette and Caryville areas were built decades ago and still contain aging cooling systems that struggle to keep up with modern cooling demands. These older units often use outdated refrigerants, lack variable-speed blower motors, and consume significantly more energy than today’s high-efficiency models. Replacing an outdated system with a new, properly sized installation can cut your summer cooling costs substantially.
For homeowners who also need winter heating, a heat pump system offers an alternative worth considering. Heat pumps provide both cooling in summer and heating in winter using a single unit, which can simplify maintenance and reduce equipment costs over time. Our team can explain whether a heat pump installation makes sense for your home based on your heating needs, budget, and the layout of your property.
Proper thermostat control plays a major role in how effectively your new AC system operates. Installing a smart thermostat at the same time as your new system ensures you can monitor and adjust settings remotely, create schedules that match your routine, and potentially reduce energy waste. Ask us about smart thermostat installation options when you schedule your AC installation.

A properly sized unit cools every room evenly, avoiding hot spots and cold drafts throughout your home.
When your AC matches your home’s square footage and insulation, it doesn’t need to overwork, helping you save on energy costs.
Oversized systems cycle on and off too often, while undersized ones run constantly. Both lead to faster wear and tear.
Correctly sized units remove humidity effectively, keeping your indoor air more comfortable during LaFollette, Jacksboro, Caryville, and Campbell County TN’s humid summers.
Proper sizing means less strain on the compressor and other key components, minimizing breakdowns and repair costs.
